If there's one thing all of us tall girls struggle with, it's finding jeans long enough so they aren't confused with high waters. Lo and behold, I would like to think that I have solved this problem.
I'm not much of a spender/invester, especially when it comes to clothes. But of course, every one likes to wear something well made and comfy. Yes, these jeans are comfy. Comfy jeans. And we ain't talkin' bout pajama jeans here, ladies.
I have been wearing New York & Company jeans for years. And by years, I'm talking 5. Granted, I'm 17. For 29.41176% of my life, I've been living in these pants. I would chose my NY&Co.'s over leggings every damn day.
I can't say enough about these jeans, expecially their bootcut styles. The other day my art teacher asked me where I buy my jeans becuase he needed to recommend something to his 6'2" girlfriend. If my art teacher's GF is wearing them, why shouldn't you?!
RIGHT NOW: http://www.nyandcompany.com/ is having a BOGO 50% off sale on everything! PLUS, some of the styles are marked down to only $25! If I didn't own most of the styles, I would definitly be whipping out my credit card faster than you can say super awesome sale.
Where do you get your go to jeans?
Do you enjoy wearing jeans as much as I do? Leave me a comment!
Today I'm linking up with Neely and Ashley for Sunday Social! This week's questions are all 3's!
1. Top 3 things you can't go a day without doing; checking twitter, eating ice cream, spending time with Bird.
2. 3 things that scare you the most; failing (a test, someone, in life), tall bridges, and school busses tipping over off of a cliff. Random, but so real.
3. 3 places you want to see before you kick the bucket; I'll assume that means die. I would love to go to Bora Bora, Rome and Florida (again and again and again). Can we tell I'm missing summer?
4. 3 movies you will always love; The Wizard of Oz, When in Rome, The Last Song are classics. I'm not much of a movie person so I tend to watch the same ones over and over.
And to think New England was finally over this endless winter... No, there is more rain and cold headed in our direction. Oh, what a joy. So lately I've been living my life vicariously through happy, warm ads on my favorite clothing sites. It's a sad time. Where art thou, 60 degrees? Here are some things on my "to purchase" list for when the weather no longer resembles an Antarctic summer:
Because I suck and missed last week's Friday Fives [bad, Carolyn], I'm making up for the week lost and week past in this post. Double the awesomeness, awe heckie yeah.
1. Online Black Friday shopping. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for a sale, especially if it's more than 50% off. Needless to say, I've been going crazy. I've spent $60 in the past 3 days, a new, very sad, personal record.
2. Moe's is a Mexican mix between buffet, fast food, and sit down restaurants. If you haven't been to one, I recommend it. It's a very interesting experience, and soooo yummy.
3. Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer. I cannot rave enough. You all have to buy this concealer. It's like, 6 bucks at Walmart and it's lasted me a year; I can't believe I've almost finished it. Absolutely amazeballs for my seriously broken out skin. [I'm blaming it on the grease and fumes at work. Gag.]
4. Wanelo. I rediscovered my love for this app and I can't even at the beauty of shopping tumblr, basically. Will someone buy me my Birthday Wishlist collection please?
5. The International Delights Caramel Macchiato coffee creamer. If you saw my Sweater Weather Tag, you heard me rave about this stuff enough; I put it in my hot chocolate and it makes it taste like the Dunkin Donuts Salted Caramel one. NOMS!!
1. On Monday, I wore a button up sweater and no cardigan underneath. Why I thought it was a good idea to wear my scarlet bra under a cardigan is beyond me.
2. I drove without my permit last night. Breakin the law, one day at a time, woo.
3. Forgetting my key ring at my grandparent's house [yes, permit included], I also didn't have my debit card to buy my cart on Wetseal during the sale today. I called my Grammy for my card number. What can I say? I wasn't going to let BOGO 80% off go.
4. My last paycheck was $25. I need a new job.
5. I completely forgot about my blog this week; BUT I caught up on YouTube things and that feels good.
1. My T-Shirt business-y thing has really been booming lately. I just hit my 100 total sales mark!
2. I hit 1,000 subscribers on YouTube. I've had 1,000 subscribers on another channel before, but that was with those horrible spam messages [I was naive, what can I say] begging for subs. These viewers are honest, genuine people I have watching me, and I feel so good about that!
3. I bought the leggings I've been telling myself to buy in all of my Friday Fives posts. Five pairs for $17.
4. I didn't overstuff myself last night. Until they brought out the apple cheesecake caramel squares. I tried. It's the thought that counts, right?
5. I'm all caught up to Glee, besides last night's episode! If you haven't seen the Cory Monteith tribute, you need to. Even if you're not a Gleek, everyone needs a good cry once in a while.
1. Finish Christmas shopping. I've got all my friend's gifts all purchased and on their way to my house, now it's all about my mom, grandparents and Secret Santa's! [Yes, I have multiple.]
2. Get my clothing situations under control. I can't see my closet floor. See my dilemma?
3. Start and finish season 6 of Gossip Girl. I'm waiting for the right rainy day!
4. Do some serious at home DIYing and get my skin back in order. I don't know what's up and I'm not happy about it.
5. Make a calendar and prerecord//prewrite//schedule videos and blog posts for the next month. I slacked hard this week.
Wow, long time no post... Almost a week! I'm so sorry, but I've been trying to get back into my YouTube groove... check out my channel here; there will be a new video up [possibly] today!
So, without further ado, here is a [very condensed] list of what I'm thankful for!
1. Family and friends. I couldn't imagine living without all of my losers: I'm already going crazy being trapped in my house alone, and it's only been 2 days. I miss the children screaming and my mom yelling?! Oy!
2. My Internet family. Let's be honest, I spend more time intereacting with my viewers//readers than I do "real" people, some days. So many people have made the last 3.5 years enjoyable for me, and I couldn't picture myself doing anything else! Thank you, 989 subscribers, 93 total twitter followers and 115 total insta followers, thank you. 3. My little nugget. This bird flapped and tumbled [literally] his way into my life and therefore my heart. The way my muscles have adapted to immediately go downstairs to the den to retreive him every morning, still surprises me, to the point where I question how he's on my shoulder already. <3
4. Of course, my other little love muffins. As much as they drive me crazy [I did not appreciate the 6 a.m. barking yesterday morning], I've had these dogs for so long, and I don't want to know what coming home to a quiet, empty house feels like. They've always brought me so much comfort and security, like they have my back, just not opposable thumbs! [Not all are pictured below!]
5. The state that I live in//the schools that I've gone to. Not a lot of people come from a place as nice as I do [not to brag of course, I'm very lucky]. I've been given so many opportunities, awards, offers, compliments, positions, etc. I've been to other districts and none have the same unity as my hometown does. I appreciate what we have here.
6. Marching band. I've met my closest friends, favorite teacher[s], different adults in the field, college aids and students, all sorts of people through this activity. And it's more than a credit in school. We're telling stories at Senior Night on Friday and one of the kid's was great: He joined band to get an extra credit in school so that he can graduate. And after 13 years of school and finally graduating, he made some life long friends and found himself. In a matter of 3 months. I can't describe the feels I have for my sport.
7. The New York Giants. On a much lighter note, God Bless BG for getting me hooked on my G-men. Over the years, I've grown emotionally attached to the team, it's a little crazy.
What are some things you're thankful for? Are you looking forward to this holiday or is Christmas your game?
Howdy, Friday. It feels like we just had the weekend... maybe because I only had a 3 day school week? Yup, blaming it on No School November. [More on that some other time.] It's time for this week's Friday post round up, but I put a special spin on it so we're not all "and I liked this" and "this was cool" and blah. Feel free to take inspiration from this post and incorporate it into your Friday posts!
1.There comes a time when a 16 [almost 17] year old girl needs to kiss the aqua blue walls and bunk beds good bye. That time is now. We're redecorating my room! Lots of posts to come, but for now, keep an eye on this pinterest board!
2. New York. We took a detour through NYC on our way to MetLife Stadium and I just fell more in love with the city. The people [some not so much], the foliage, the apartments [again, some definitely iffy], I just need to be there. Someone want to share a teeny tiny one-bedroom with me?
3. Pinterest. I think this was a part of my faves last time, but let's be honest here: I'm addicted. It's bad. Let's fight feed this addiction together. Follow me here. =)
4. Bios de Rose by Estee Lauder. I'm a professional look-like-a-clown-while-wearing-read-lips[er?]. But this color is great, mainly because it doesn't accentuate the red in my skin. Me gusta!
5. I caved and bought a new camera! It's the Samsung MV900F, and I have to say, it was basically a steal at $130 on Amazon. I'll be doing a full review in a few months!
1. Buy leggings. Oh, so CWG. What can I say?
2. Social media. In general. This week was rough. Basically, I tweeted twice. Don't hate me.
3. Eat less bagels and more eggs. Sorry about it.
4. Get my room painted and pick out a bed spread!
5. Go thrifting//bring my old junk to the consignment shop. I'm addicted!
1. I didn't borrow a single penny from my mom this week. Granted, she keeps the food on the table and a roof over my head, but I bought my own $9 OPI polish. Aw yeah! [Not necessarily excited about spending my own money, but most definitely proud.]
2. I raised my grade in algebra 6 points in the past 2 weeks. Holla at the nerd status.
3. I designed a whole new layout for my blog that I am almost completely happy with and plan to keep for a while!
4. I uploaded a video. It's sad that this is under achievements, but I'm getting back in my YouTube groove thang.
5. As previously mentioned, I got my camera! I've been putting off spending the money for so long, but it's a worthwhile investment that will help me in my field. At least, that's how I convinced myself into spending the money.
1. I got nothing done this week besides blogging. I went farther than procrastination here - I full on just blew things off for my blog. Not good.
2. I ate half a box of munchkins... as a snack... by myself... in one sitting. It was bad. And then I went to McDonald's. That was Saturday and I can still feel the powdered sugar collecting in my stomach.
3. I still haven't brought my winter wardrobe down from the closet. It's 40 degrees out today. Yeah, let that one sink in.
4. I only worked 3 hours and 20 mins this week. My wallet is going to hate me.
5. I started a Christmas board on Pinterest. I'm never one to sing Christmas carols before Thanksgiving, but we're making an exception here, ok?
So what did I learn this week? Nothing. I didn't do anything, so how can I learn? OH! I did learn how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to my blog. That's something I guess. You know, the 2 chapters I took a test on didn't sink in, but I know that I need to use more vertical pictures in my posts. Good, good job, Carolyn.
Yay, happy Sunday everyone! How'd it go these past 7 days? Me? Well, I had a marvelous time [*southern belle accent implied*].
Today I'm linking up with Neely @ acompletewasteofmakeup for the Sunday Social linkup. Don't forget to link up and make some new blogging friends!
1) What is currently on your wishlist? A blogging & vlogging camera and a car!
2) Share a new iPhone app that you've recently discovered and we all need. Does Candy Crush count? Because I'm basically addicted and I advise all of you to download it so you can send me lives. It would be greatly appreciated/
3) What is a new fall TV show that you have added to your DVR? The Blacklist. If you haven't seen this one yet, you have to. I only like select crime shows and this one has managed to wiggle its way onto my list - check it out Mondays @ 10 on NBC. [I even stay up late to watch it people. I don't even do that for PLL.]
4) Share your social media sites so we can follow you.
I'm trying to be more consistent with my social media! Don't mind the fact that I've only tweeted like 10 times. I'm a dweeb but I'm working on it, ok?
5) What is a TV show, movie, or song that you could watch or listen to over and over and never get tired of?
TV Show: Law & Order SVU. If you know anything about me, you'd know of my obsession for this show; I'm not much of a TV watcher but I've seen every episode. Let's be real, that's why Netflix exists, right?
Movie: Bridesmaids & When in Rome. Josh Duhamel. Do I need any more explaination?
Song: Anything country, pretty much. Blake Shelton is my man, though.
If you participated in this linkup, tell me, I want to check out your blog! Spread the love, ladies!
While I'm not someone to talk about having an awesome blog, [I know I don't], there sure are a few things I've run into that I cannotstand when I visit someone else's blog.
1) No Bloglovin account/button. Let's be real here, I'm all about the simple life and making things so I barely have to work to achieve anything. [Don't read too much into that.] So having one website where all bloggers can find each other with a few strokes of the keys is prime in my eyes. Get a bloglovin! It's the new face of blog followings, so sign up! 2) No about page. If you don't have a sidebar autobiography doo hickey, make an about page. At least has something. Mine hasn't been updated since 2011, when I first got my blog [and trust me, there is a new one in the works], but it's something for potential readers to go off of. 3) Too many colors and/or fonts. KISS. [Keep it simple, stupid.] Pick 1-3 featured colors for your blog titles/text/gadgets and what not [not including black and white] and no more than 3 fonts. Not only is it easy on the eyes, but your font and color preferences say a lot about your personality. Give a good first impression!
4) Nothing in the sidebar; give me something to look at! Okay, so you have 4 bloglovin followers and a blog archive. Nice, good luck with growing that following! Sidebar widgets and pictures are even more vital than a nice header/logo. Think of it as the foyer of a house: the front door [header] might look really nice and the front room [the posts] may be so well thought out and designed, but then you're in this nasty entryway that provides no connection between the outside and the inside. Ew! 5) Having paragraphs upon paragraphs upon paragraphs of text. I love to babble on about nothing, trust me, I really do. But I've come to find how much I skim through posts that have huge chunks of text. This isn't high school people, there's no need for 15 sentence long paragraphs in which you are continually repeating yourself.
Like I said, I don't have an amazing, eye catching, one hundred percent fool proof layout. But my template is clean and appealing; that's all a new blogger should strive for!
What are some things that irritate you about other blogs? Let me know!
With the closing of October, we greet November with a warm embrace....
Yeah, no. November best be giving me a warm embrace because this is probably one of the coldest months at my house.
My mother is one of those "65 degrees all year round, until it gets to below freezing" type of people. You better believe I'll be rocking the 10 pairs of socks and million layers look for the next few days until the heat actually gets turned on... to 68.
If you were to open up my photo gallery this very second, 5% of my photos would be inspirational quotes, 5% would be selfies, 10% would be food pictures [that I always forget to Instagram], and the remaining 80% would be this little devil. He's one of the biggest and most important parts of my life so I thought I would share my little nugget with all of you!
The [uber quick] Back Story: One day I was casually walking home from school, when I get a text from my asking me "Do you want him?" with an attached picture of this mangy, frail african grey parrot, something I've wanted for the longest time.
How'd we cross paths? He was a rescue; his previous owners put him in a cat carrier and brought him to the store my mom works at, hoping to donate him. The employee turned the old man down and instead of being a responsible citizen and finding another home for his bird, he shoved the cat carrier on a dog food shelf and walked out of the store.
That was February 2nd, 2012. That night, my mom hauled this little sad sack into the house and he's been by my side ever since.
Some questions I know I'm going to get: [I got you]
What kind of bird is he? An African Grey parrot.
How old is he? We don't know, but by the way he acts and goes through his yearly cycles [think Aunt Flo or whatever you want to call it], we've assumed he' s around my age, which makes him 15-17.
How long will he live? They can live up to, on average, be 80 years old. So we're going to be stuck together for quite a while.
What's wrong with his feathers? He's a compulsive feather plucker, which is common among greys. The mix of his most likely stressful and inadequate previous home situation left him with serious anxiety and separation issues.
Why doesn't he have a real name? He does. It's Mr. Bird. Bird for short. He's also referred to as Baby, Buddy, Nugget, Turd [don't ask], Bad, etc. His name is basically any adjective that describes him on a given day. And he responds to every one.
Does he talk? No, and he probably won't. These birds learn habits young and he was denied a proper environment to learn to talk.
And now a little autobiography from Bird, himself.
"ok, ok, ok, so mommi told me i hav 2 right a little sumting about mself so her: vnjhjhjgbh .e:. dats allll"
Ask me any questions you have in the comments. Maybe this post was a little useless, but I talk about this little munchkin so much, I had to!=)
